 1. Rules of Solariis
« Thread Started on Sept 30, 2008, 1:54am »

Here at Solariis, we can be very lenient or very strict, but we still do expect each member to follow the rules that we've set for them.

If you don't follow these rules, we'll give you a warning and, if we feel it's applicable, another warning, before we bring out the more serious punishments.

General Rules
plz 2 be followin'

Respect all members on the forum.
No matter if they're a guest checking out the forum or a real oldie on here, respect others. Don't pick fights and arguments; just be nice.

No advertising.
You may talk about your site in the Cbox, and you may have a link to your site in your forum signature, but you may only link a person to your site if they request it—basically, no unsolicited advertising. Having the link to your website in your Cbox username is perfectly acceptable, as well.
A board is also available for advertising or affiliating, if such is the case.

No double posting!
I can't stress this enough; we have a modify button available. Use that instead. Do not double post if you can avoid it.

Post for others how they wish to be posted to.
We do have a small posting requirement of at least one paragraph of about five sentences, but that's the minimum. If you join a roleplay with someone looking for detailed posts, and they post four or five paragraphs, wouldn't it be offensive to post one paragraph posts back? It's the same in reverse. If someone is looking for a quick roleplay, don't drown them out with massive posts.

Don't make multiple accounts.
It's a hassle to deal with, among other reasons. However, if you have more than one person joining Solariis that lives with you, that's A-OK.

Do not create more than one character without first meeting the necessary requirements for them.
As you earn new ranks, you can also make more characters. When you first join, you'll only have one character; further, Rank Upgrades will give you more opportunities to create new characters.
Go here to read more about Rank Upgrades.

No godmoding.
Godmoding is when you blatantly control a character that does not belong to you—even small things like you narrating that another member's character noticed yours is godmoding. Big things: making another member's character cringe from an attack that your character launched without first allowing them to dodge. It's not fair. You wouldn't want your character to be thrown around shamelessly, would you? Unless it's a character death thread or the person godmoding has been given permission, this is strictly not allowed.

No power playing.
Power playing is when you make your character ridiculously overpowered; letting them have powers they wouldn't normally be able to learn automatically or on their own is one example.

Use spell check.
Spell checking is when you check your spelling. It's pretty simple, and an elementary understanding in grade school. No one will be able to roleplay with you if you spell everything incorrectly, right? Right, so spell check your posts! If you don't have Firefox or a spell checker of your own, here's one you can keep handy.

Other Tips
for those miscellaneous things

You may only post in one class at a time.
However, you may post in more than one thread with your character inside the campus and outside the grounds.

Rules can change at any time, so check back frequently.
